Hi, I’m Ricky. I’m a home designer, a husband, and a proud dad. I’ve been helping people design custom homes, especially for rural living, where every property and family is a little different.

I started Modern Homesteads to focus on meaningful design. Over time, more and more people began asking how they could learn to do what I do. That’s why I'm creating this course. It’s a step-by-step guide to designing homes like barndominiums and farmhouses using SketchUp and CAD, built on real-world experience, not just theory.
